The federal government on Wednesday raised the price of petrol by Rs 5 pe
r litre.
Meanwhile, the price of diesel was raised by Rs 6.37 whereas light diesel rate was increased by Rs 6.48 pe
r litre.
After the increase, the new price of petrol pe
r litre is Rs 97.83, diesel Rs 112.94, light diesel Rs 82.84 and kerosene oil Rs 86.50 pe
r litre.
The Finan
ce Ministry had given approval for the hike in
prices.
Earlier, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had sent a summa
ry to the Ministry of Petroleum recommending an increase of Rs 9 pe
r litre in petrol
prices. According to sources, the body had suggested an increase of Rs13 pe
r litre in diesel
prices and Rs 6.47 in kerosene oil.
